It is called Art Triangle O Golden Triangle the group of museums of Madrid located in the Paseo del Prado, old mall that marks the boundary between the old town and the Retiro Park. The three vertices of the triangle are the Museo del Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofia Museum, which together attract millions of visitors a year.
The name of the area of the Prado as a Triangle of Art was initially suggested by the press, and then taken over by the cultural authorities, following the opening of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in 1992.The museum reinforced the artistic offerings of the area and covering the gaps left by the collections of the other two centers.
Thus, it was understood that among the three, it was possible to explore the evolution of art from the Middle Ages to the present.
1.- Prado Museum: It is the most famous museum in Madrid and one of the most important museums of art in the world.
The building was designed by Juan de Villanueva and opened in 1819.
Its collection is based mainly on paintings from the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries, including his paintings features masterpieces by painters of the stature of Velazquez, El Greco, Rubens, Bosch or Goya.

The most famous museum, the picture is Guernica Picasso, held in memory of the tragic aerial bombing of the Basque city homonym during the Civil War.
To visit the museum of modern art fans will need several hours as the museum is really extensive.
3.- Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum: The museum is located in a privileged location, the Palace of Villahermosa. This palace was built in the late eighteenth century and is a clear example of Madrid's neoclassical architecture.
The museum has three floors; to cross it is recommended to start with the second floor and later down to the first and ground floor. During this tour we will see the historical evolution of painting, with works spanning the XVII-XX centuries.
Among the most important international artists, including works by Van Eyck, Van Gogh, Caravaggio y Edvard Munch, among others.

In addition to these museums, around their vertices a wide range of museums, such as CaixaForum or the burning house in the old factory of Tabacalera is concentrated.
